While we wait

While we wait for more exciting, visible changes outside I’d love to explore some other topics here. I have several different series in mind but I’d love to start with highlighting some of my favorite and most used tools. This time of year is the ideal time to take inventory of your tools, sharpen and oil the ones that need attention and maybe add to your toolkit! So, to keep it moving, here is a breakdown of my top three garden tools:

Felco 211-50 Loppers

Step into the world of efficient pruning with the Felco 211-50 Loppers, where benefits abound for both novice gardeners and seasoned horticulturists. Loppers feature longer handles and require the use of two hands. Crafted with precision and durability in mind, these loppers bring a new level of ease to your pruning tasks. The extended length, paired with razor-sharp blades, makes reaching and cutting those high branches a breeze. The lightweight aluminum handles ensure comfortable use without sacrificing strength. The unique design of the Felco 211-50 loppers allows for easy adjustments, adapting to the thickness of the branches you're tackling. Easily and cleanly trim off branches from half inch to one and a half inches thick, regardless of your upper body strength! Say goodbye to struggling with unruly growth, as these loppers offer a perfect blend of power, precision, and comfort. Elevate your pruning game with the Felco 211-50, where every snip is a testament to quality and efficiency.

Okatsune Professional Snips #207

Discover the exceptional benefits of the Okatsune Professional Snips 207, a gardening tool designed to elevate your pruning experience. Crafted with precision in mind, these snips offer unparalleled accuracy, ensuring each cut is as clean as a surgeon's scalpel. I have used these for years indoors and out and love the narrow tip for precise pruning in tight spots. The secret lies in the robust Japanese steel construction, providing durability that withstands the test of time. Beyond their strength, these snips prioritize user comfort with an ergonomic design, promising a fatigue-free pruning session. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting, the Okatsune 207 is a reliable companion for precise and effortless pruning. Compared to the Felco’s, these offer a different shape and can go where the Felco’s can’t, but the Felco’s offer a strength for larger, tougher branches that can’t be matched. I fully endorse having a pair of each on hand. Upgrade your gardening toolkit and witness the transformative impact these snips can have on your plant care routine.

So those are my top three hand tool recommendations, I’ll be back with more tools I reach for regularly soon. I can’t wrap this up though without adding that the very best tools-- that will never let you down are your hands! I know we can’t branches cleanly with them, but for most other jobs, they are perfect. They can get in tight places, take care of small pruning, are perfect for digging and arranging. Don’t be afraid to use your hands, get dirty, and really get in touch with nature!

Now, go grow something!
